Transforming Biodiversity Conference

14-16 November 2017

Cape to City is hosting a three day national conference in November based on the learnings from the Cape to City and its sister project Poutiri Ao ō Tāne over the last four years.

This is an opportunity to find out details about large scale ecological restoration and landscape scale predator pest management. The conference will look at the big picture of biodiversity restoration in New Zealand and also consider some practical pathways to achieving this goal. Cape to City and its sister project Poutiri Ao ō Tāne will be key topics and the conference will include presentations and field trips to both projects.

Speakers from other significant ecological restoration projects around New Zealand are being invited to talk about their experiences.

Cape to City and Poutiri Ao ō Tāne are ground-breaking and collaborative ecological restoration projects in Te Matau a Māui/Hawke’s Bay, along the eastern coast of New Zealand’s North Island. The projects are working to restore native species across 34,000 hectares of mainly primary productive farmland. Their vision is to bring native species back to Hawke’s Bay to thrive as part of the landscape – and our lives.
